Nueva Mississippi is a UM faculty Laurate Project that seeks to promote bilingualism, more specifically for the Spanish language, by giving Hispanic families a voice across the state of Mississippi. It promotes the education of the Spanish language to non-Spanish speakers regardless of their heritage, and by documenting how communities in the state of Mississippi interact with the Latino population.
Although the emphasis is on Latin American culture in Mississippi, this project is directed to any native Spanish speakers, and people who are learning or interested in learning the Spanish language, and about different Latino cultures.
This branding concept was developed for a client project in a university branding course. The proposal was presented directly to the client and was recognized among the top submissions, but was not selected for implementation.
